BBC RADIO 2: THE MICHAEL BALL SHOW

OCTOBER 23, 2022

Going into today’s show, the bar was set high for Michael after last week’s record-shattering giggle fest. He started off referencing it, saying he prayed all week he didn’t get the boot and jokingly blamed Yvette! Of course they wouldn’t fire him. How could they when that segment went viral, netting BBC2 radio and Michael’s show so much publicity? 😂 Congrats to fellow fan Lucy Emanuel for her appearance in On The Ball. Her banter with Michael was SO entertaining! Well done, Lucy. Michael spoke to a child suffering from leukemia – also her family – who have benefited from Children in Need. Michael is always at his best in conversations like this, his voice compassionate but also laced with much-needed humor, eliciting laughs from the others. He also spoke with a blind 16-yr-old who also benefited from Children In Need, a truly amazing young girl. I loved his interview with Jim Kerr of Simple Minds – He got him to talk about how he writes music and what inspires him. Being a songwriter himself now, Michael was able to engage him in ways that the average interviewer couldn’t. On a side note – I always like Michael’s choice of music, but today he played “Let It Go,” which seems to be my theme song these days! Thank you, Michael. ❤️ In closing, he confessed that Wilbur, his new fur baby, will be joining the Ball household in a mere few weeks. Judging by the tone of Michael’s voice, Wilbur is already greatly loved. What a lucky dog! As always, Michael’s show is the best way to start a Sunday.

One last thing – The deadline for nominations for the Sir Terry Wogan Fundraiser of the Year close tonight at 11 PM (UK time). This fundraiser will benefit Children In Need for which Michael is such a magnificent ambassador, his passion for children shining through. ❤️
